Favourite Italian Restaurant… Buon Ricordo
Buon Ricordo – one of my all time favourite Italian restaurant in Sydney. I have been here many times now, with work and occasionally with friends. Came back here again for my brothers’ 30th birthday as he absolutely loves this place! Run by Armando Percuoco’s, this place has been opened since 1987. There are two dining rooms, upper (which is more chic and has some amazing paintings) and lower (which is more casual and homey).
We got seated upstairs, and as soon as we sat down, a basket of bread was placed in front of us – sour dough and bread sticks with a side of olive oil. The bread was fresh and moist.
We ordered 3 entrees, capriccio of sword fish with blood orange, fried calamari and their specialty, fettuccine al tatufovo.
The capriccio of sword fish with blood orange was absolutely divine – the sweetness from the blood orange and the texture of the sword fish blended so well together and was absolutely fantastic.
The fried calamari was good but nothing to rave about, not like the capriccio of sword fish and their fettuccine specialty.
The fettuccine al tatufovo – fettuccine served in a cream sauce with lightly fried, truffle-infused eggs. It was tossed at the table and I believe this is one of those unforgettable, life-altering dishes. This dish was simply mouth watering, the creaminess of the sauce, and truffle, and the egg mixed together was just unbelievable! It is ridiculously rich and creamy but one of the best pasta I have ever had anywhere in the world! A must try for foodies around the world!
My sister in law to be and I ordered the goldband snapper wrapped in pancetta and served with barolo sauce and fried sage. The snapper was fresh, and tender. The pancetta gave it a nice salty / smoky flavour and the Barolo sauce gave it a nice touch.
Hubby ordered the john dory fillets in an egg and parmesan batter with pea puree – this dish was also fantastic! John dory was fresh, batter extremely light and the pea puree was a great compliment to the dish.
Mum ordered the cotolette con parmigiana – grilled, milk fed veal cutlets with eggplant parmigiana. I am not a huge fan of veal, but this was unbelievably tasty! The veal was tender and moist and the eggplant parmigiana was just divine!
Both my dad and the birthday boy ordered zuppa di pesce – scampi, mussels, clams, calamari, octopus, cuttlefish and rock cooked with tomato. It all came out in a hot pan and all the seafood mixed together cooked with tomato sauce. The seafood was fresh and absolutely tasty.
It’s a shame I forgot my camera and took the photos with the iphone (hence images a little dark!). This is a must go to place for any foodie or anyone who just loves to eat and try new restaurant. It’s not cheap but the food is just unbelievable. Like I said, I have been here more than half a dozen time, and each time, the food is perfect and amazing. This is indeed my favourite Italian restaurant in Sydney!
