Great find, Pigeon Cafe, Surry Hills
A great find! A cute little hole in a wall that serves fantastic coffee. There is really not a shortage of good coffees in Surry Hills. This little hole in a wall can be found behind the lumiere café and patiserrie which is on bourke street.
I came here with B one morning for our catch up and coffee fix. It was early so the place was a little quiet. I started with coffee, flat white (and T, this is just for you!) and it was fantastic! They use Campos coffee beans, and the flavours and aroma were strong and wonderful.
We both had the bircher muesli with fruit (oranges) and honey ($7). Soaked in orange juice, it was a pretty good bircher muesli! The honey gave it that extra sweetness, and the yogurt a tad sour was a great complement. The orange was fresh, and refreshing.
I came back here with ‘The Mother’ one sunny weekend. The coffee ($4) definitely consistent and superb!
This time, I opted for the rocket and feta omelette with lime chutney ($10) – it had me at ‘lime chutney’. The omelette was paper thin, and moist. The large chunks of feta was delightful and the lime chutney was tangy and the perfect complement. It was delicious.
‘The Mother’ opted for the bacon and egg roll ($9). Unfortunately he didn’t rave about the bacon and egg roll as much as I did with my omelette. The roll was a tad on the cold side, and the bacon was not crispy. ‘It was ok’ he claimes.
The coffee is awesome, food is a bit of a hit and miss it seems, but service is excellent! Will definitely be back for the wonderful coffee.

Such a cute name, and I love the branding. A shame the bacon wasn’t crispy – that’s the whole point of ordering bacon, no? lol
agree! bacon is supposed to be crispy … but the coffee was good
Nice find indeed! Love the pigeons!
