Sushi Rio, Sydney
‘The mother’ loves sushi train – he loves the vast options, and the fact that he can pick and choose and watch the plates go around and around and around. Makoto is one of my favourite sushi train, however, we walked past the restaurant and there was a long queue already at 7.30pm on a Friday evening. As most of you know, I hate queues, couldn’t be bothered waiting so suggested Sushi Rio, which is on the corner of Sussex and Liverpool Street.

Thankfully there were no queues when we got there but shortly after, we did notice a few people waiting. Started with beef tataki sushi, tender succulent beef, one of ‘The Mother’s favourite.

Spicy salmon with mayonnaise and spring onion is one of my many favourites. It had a nice ‘spicy’ kick at the end.

Fresh sashimi – one of the more expensive dishes but oh so worth it! LOVE fresh sashimi.

Not sure why ‘The Mother’ picked this, he had one and I ate the rest.

Crab claw with mayonnaise. Deliciously plump, moreish and oh so crab-y!

Here’s another shot of the crab, YUM!

White fish sashimi sushi topped with egg roe – FRESH!

Agedashi tofu, another favourite of mine, slightly deep fried, the tofu just melts in your mouth. Careful that you don’t put the whole thing in your mouth!

Chicken karaage – tender and succulent and dipped in mayonnaise excellent.

We ordered all the hot food ‘fresh’ – i.e. we asked the waiter if we could have it fresh and they were more than happy to do that. Like all other sushi train, if you don’t see anything you fancy you can always order it.
Sushi Rio is good but my heart is still with Makoto. We were both too full for dessert, and besides, as usual, we were running late for our movie. From memory plate ranges from $3 – $6 and the hot dishes are slightly more.

Overall, sushi was fresh and good. Quality is good and service not too shabby. No doubt I will be back if Makoto is busy!
Date night, one of my favourite evenings!
