Shelter Lounge, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
I am so glad I was introduced to this place, Shelter Lounge, which is in Sheung Wan. We have been a couple of times now and every time it has been fantastic! From memory they are open for dinner, but both times we have only been for brunch – I can never say NO to all day breakfast and I am still on the hunt for a good cafe in Hong Kong. The menu is vast, they have all day breakfast, and if you want something else, they also have salads for the lighter lunch or burgers or pastas from memory. They also have a good selection of desserts which is hard to resist.
The big breakfast which consists of eggs (of your choice), mushroom, bacon, sausages, baked beans, tomatoes and has brown was pretty popular. I noticed every second table someone ordered the big breakfast. My only gripe is that the bacon was a little over cooked – it was like crisp, otherwise it was pretty good.
‘The Mother’ opt for the chicken burger with brie. I was quite surprised he didn’t choose a beef burger. The burger was quite tasty, and the bun extremely soft. I loved the gooey brie.
The caesar salad with chicken is also quite generous. Fresh lettuce, and soft tender thick chunks of chicken. The sauce was not powering which was nice.
Shelter Lounge has a wide range of drinks. I absolutely loved the indian – avocado, banana, mango, fresh milk and yogurt, even Dragon couldn’t help herself! It was refreshing, a tad on the heavy side but it was good!
We also got some fruit juices, from memory on the right is brazilian which consists of banana, papaya, honey and yogurt. ‘The Mother’ asked if he could opt the papaya for mango which they did. On the right, is the french which consists of orange, strawberry, honey and yogurt. Both were delicious.
We ordered a tiramisu also which was delicious!
Will definitely be back to try their other dishes and dinner. I may have found a favourite brunch spot in Hong Kong!
