Birthday dinner @ Tim’s Kitchen

I couldn’t decide where to go for my birthday dinner but one thing I was certain was that I wanted to have Chinese food. Found this place, spoke to a very nice man and made a reservation. I was told that I had to pre-order the food and he was kind enough to give me some recommendations. Tim’s Kitchen was founded in 2000 as a private kitchen in Sheung Wan by Chef Tim Lai, who had worked at Hang Seng Private Executive Negative room for 33 years.

After perusing the menu for many hours, I finally decided on the crab claw poached with winter melon, fried frog legs in peppercorn salt, garoupa fish fillet with celery and half deep fried chicken.

The giant crab claw poached with winter melon was their signature dish. This dish was absolutely wonderful, the shell has been removed and the flesh was extremely tender and the starched sauce and winter melon made the flavours delicate. This dish was just utterly amazing.

Fried frog legs in peppercorn salt, the frog legs were meaty (not too boney which was good!), tender and juicy. It was lightly battered, and it was indeed tasty! It wasn’t as hot (in terms of chili wise) as it looks in the picture.

Next was the garoupa fillet with celery. The fish was so fresh, and the crispiness of the celery was a great a compliment. A simple but yet wonderful dish.

Last but not least, the half deep fried chicken – this was also their signature dish and it didn’t disappoint. The skin was crispy and the chicken was tender. It was absolutely divine! (and yes, Hubby and I ate half a bird!)

The service was pleasant and efficient, they were friendly and attentive.

It was a sublime meal and a great birthday dinner! Will definitely come back to try their other dish.
