Butagumi Tonkatsu Revisited

Trying to find a restaurant on Saturday night sometimes can be hard. This was the sixth Japanese restaurant I called and finally they said they had a table but at the bar! We were greeted by a lovely hostess and the place was busy!

Started with sashimi platter which consisted of salmon sashimi, tuna, king fish, fresh prawns and fresh scallops. I thought the sashimi platter was below par! The salmon sashimi was fresh, however, the rest was a little ordinary – a real disappointment considering I was craving ‘good’ sashimi!

We ordered the prawn tempura set and a pork katsu set – both served with shredded cabbage which was unlimited. The tempura did not disappoint – five juicy prawns deep fried and the crispiness of the prawn was fantastic. It was exactly the same as the first time I tried the pork katsu. The pork was also crispy and succulent. It was indeed consistent.

Their specialty is definitely the tonkatsu, the sushi was definitely below par.
