Family dinner @ Nobu

This is the second time I have been here in the past couple of months (read first review here). My aunty and uncle in law have heard raving reviews about Nobu from their daughter when they last visited and they were keen to try this place. They left the ordering to both Hubby and I – not sure if that was a wise move or not … we shall soon find out!

We started off with the classics – yellow tail sashimi with jalapeno – this was fantastic as the first time. The combinations of all the flavours were just unbelievable!

Tuna Tataki Sashimi salad with matsuhisa dressing – this is a must when going to Nobu. It was fresh, light and extremely refreshing! Again, this was as good as the first time we had it.

Saga beef toban yaki – this was as amazing as the first time we had it! The beef was cooked slightly on the outside and leaving it raw on the inside or ‘blue’. The beef was unbelievably tender and the scallion and fried onions were a great compliment.

Assorted sushi – 6 different types of sushi ranging from salmon belly, king fish, raw prawns, tuna, crab and white fish. The salmon belly was my favourite – it was simply incredible! It wasn’t fatty at all – it just melted in my mouth! No words can describe how good this salmon belly was. My least favourite would have to be the raw prawns… I didn’t even eat it – I gave my share to hubby! Raw prawns and I just don’t mix well!

Another must have dish is the black miso cod – this is their specialty. It was so buttery and creamy that it was just fantastic! We really had to order 2 serve of this – and were all satisfied. Like the first time we came here, this was a favourite amongst the eaters!

US prime beef tataki steak in a sizzling hot pot was absolutely fantastic! Beef was tender, juicy and succulent.

For dessert, hubby and I shared the braised pear and sago – it came in small pot with Bunsen burner.

This was surprisingly tasty and light! We always seem to order the chocolate bento box and wanted to try something different. Glad we opted for the braised pear – it was definitely a nice surprise!

Our cousin J ordered the banana tofu with caramel ice cream. This was simply divine! The banana tofu – more like banana jelly was an absolute delight. The combination of the banana tofu and caramel ice cream was unbelievable! It was light and not sickening – it was fantastic!

It was a great meal with family – catching up and reminiscing about the past.
