Lunch @ Agehan

I have been here a couple of times now and I have to admit, it is not too bad. Booking is definitely recommended, unless you want to be told that they are fully booked and be sent away or wait for at least 30 – 40 mins. First time I came here was with a uni friend of mine, J. We were both craving for pork katsu curry. Can you believe that prior to coming to Hong Kong, I have never ever had pork katsu curry? EVER! Now, I crave for it! Mostly during winter, as its ‘comfort’ food.

So when J and I went to Agehan, we both ordered the pork katsu curry lunch set. It comes with miso soup, salad, and pickles. The pork katsu was crispy and succulent. The curry, with a hint of spiciness was fantastic! I enjoyed every single mouthful. Is it the best pork kastu curry? I wouldn’t know, I am not an expert at katsu curry but it definitely was delicious! I’ve had it a couple of times here and each time has been fantastic! So consistency is good.

I came here again with J and D one lunch time. We were originally going to go to Sapporo but the queue at Sapporo at 12.15pm were ridiculously long! So we went to Agehan, without a reservation and after waiting for about 15 mins, we were seated. I wasn’t craving curry that day, thankfully, but was craving for katsu don, so ordered the pork katsu don and it was exactly what I wanted! The pork unfortunately was not crispy, due to the sauce and egg, but pork was definitely tender. The egg which deliciously sweet was a great a compliment. The set lunch came with both miso soup, and pickles.

This place is always busy, no matter which day you come. Surrounded by business men and women, mainly Japanese, so that’s a good sign! Great food! Serving quite decent, so you don’t come out hungry and they give you free coffee!
