A great find… Lovely Nepalese food, the Lovely Corner

I have never eaten Nepalese food and was really surprised when J (girl J, not boy J) suggested it. I had my doubts at first, but I knew J would not have suggested it, if she has never been. This little gem reminds me a little bit of a private kitchen, it’s homey and friendly, and the drawings in the restaurant are amazing. I was told that the owner drew all the paintings on the wall – from ceiling to floor. The painting below is one that he drew himself – it’s quite spectacular!

We started off with the fried chicken – the chicken was tender and juicy, and the batter thin and crispy. It wasn’t oily but absolutely tasty. Eaten with chili sauce, these succulent fried chickens were delightful.

Momos (or in order words dumplings!), are traditional delicacy in Tibet and Nepal. Slightly pan fried, these pork momos were juicy and fantastic.

We ordered a serve of the pork stirfry – thinly cut pork stir fried with capsicum, onion and lots and lots of chili. It was seriously spicy but absolutely delicious. The pork was a little tough, but the overall dish was full of flavour. The chilies were HOT (spicy hot) that it made me cry a little – pathetic I know, but they were good!

Next came the chicken curry (sorry photo was a little blurry!) – I was getting a little full by this stage, but the chicken was tender and the sauce, spicy and flavoursome. As most of you know, I am a little over curry, so didn’t have a lot of this.

Ordered a serve of poori. Unfortunately by the time it got to our table, it was a little soggy. It was a tad oily but I have to admit, dipped in curry, it was delicious.

This little gem opens till 5am – I know where I will be going after a night out drinking! It’s a great find, thanks to J! I know D and I enjoyed the meal (and of course the company!)! We waddled out of the restaurant happy and were deliciously stuffed. It was a little hard to do anything that afternoon due to food coma, but it certainly was worth it!
