Brekkie with B @ Single Origin, Surry Hills

I always look forward to my weekly breakfast catch up with B, it is by far the best way to start a working day. A girlie low down on the past and upcoming week. B is just one of those people you can talk to day in and day out and you will never fall short of conversation topics. We are so similar that sometimes I think we should have been sisters or related at least!

We decided to go to Single Origin that day. Believe it or not, I have not had the breakfast here for a while now. They are not open during the weekends, and the last time I came here was with B for lunch. I started with a coffee, it was smooth, creamy and the perfect remedy for any wakeup calls.

I was craving for something non-eggy, and besides, I think having eggs for breakfast is really a weekend thing. Full breakfast consumed before 10am on a weekday is just too heavy, well, for me anyway. I opted for the ricotta with seasonal fruit on sourdough drizzled with honey. The seasonal fruit consisted of bananas, kiwis and pears. It is such a simple yet filling dish. Thick slab of sourdough, toasted, with a generous amount of ricotta cheese – it was just too pretty to eat! The honey was a great compliment and it was scrumptiously good.

B had the bircher muesli with seasonal fruit. It was a healthy breakfast, but I thought the bircher was a bit dry for my liking and had too much nuts. I wasn’t a huge fan, but B certainly enjoyed it.

The service was great! We were there at 7am and the place was already quite full. They serve excellent coffee and the breakfast menu fantastic! Again, we had food envy from those sitting around us, but I have to admit, I was extremely happy with my ricotta with seasonal fruits on sour dough! It won’t be the last time we eat here that’s for sure.

Unfortunately, breakfast catch ups are always restricted to a certain time. Work just gets in the way doesn’t it B? Love our weekly catch ups and looking forward to our next catch up shortly!
