Brunch at Clover Cafe, Annadale

I love Sunday brunches, catching up with friends over coffee, food, and intellectual conversations – well as intellectual as one can get on a Sunday morning!

‘The Mother’ and I used to live in Annandale, and we truly loved the area! Most of his friends still live in Annadale, and it certainly has been a while since our last visit, well for me anyway. We were catching up with two of our dearest friends, M and A and they suggested this lovely, cozy café, Clover.

Situated on Booth Street, this café is adorably cute, interior and exterior! Open kitchen at the end, I love the layout and the décor. I love the shelves and the cabinet which are embedded on the wall, the nutella bottle which is not empty and the other bits and pieces on the shelves.

I love the colourful blackboard on which the menu is written on.

The coffee was fantastic, creamy, with strong aroma and a great wake up call. I sat there, sipping the coffee whilst perusing the menu.

A and I opted for the eggs in clover; poached eggs on toast, prosciutto, tomato relish and pecorino. This was absolutely divine and satisfied all my cravings of perfectly poached eggs and prosciutto. The tomato relish and pecorino cheese was a great complement. The combination of the relish, eggs, prosciutto and cheese were just wonderful. It was exactly what I wanted. It was light but yet filling.

‘The Mother’ had the baked eggs – fresh chorizo and yarra valley goats cheese, roast tomato and beans, with sourdough toast. This was served in a shallow baking dish, thickly cut chorizo which was deliciously tender and spicy. The baked eggs, goats cheese and beans all baked together really gave it a nice flavouring. It was a rather ‘heavy’ dish for breakfast but ‘The Mother’ seemed to have enjoyed it. I managed to steal a couple of mouthfuls of this, and it was just superb. The chorizo was a little spicy which really gave it a nice kick and flavour. It was good.

Here is a close up of the baked eggs, hmhmh this would be perfect for a hangover cure!

M opted for something lighter, the Arabian-style bircher muesli. Unfortunately I didn’t have any of this, but M certainly enjoyed it. It was exactly what he needed after a heavy weekend of eating!

It was great catching up with M and A. Great food, great conversations, great friends – what more can you ask for on a Sunday morning?
