Luxe Espresso, Bondi Junction

Weekday brunches – I sure am going to miss you! I didn’t know it at the time but this was going to be my last weekday brunch with my dear friend A and her gorgeous son B. We ventured to Westfield Bondi Junction as she needed to get a couple of things and we thought we would have brunch at Luxe, which is located near the Eastern Hotel at Bondi Junction Westfield.

The place was busy and buzzing on a weekday, majority are mothers brunching with friends. It was very child friendly, and the staff very relaxed and charming.

You order at the counter, get a number and food will be delivered to your table. A and I opted to sit outside as it was a lot cooler.

A was on the hunt for the best eggs benedict in Sydney. However, eggs royale with petuna salmon caught her eye. We weren’t sure what ‘eggs royale’ was – it was also the first time I have seen it on the menu.

The eggs royale with petuna salmon ($17) – looked very similar to eggs benedict. Eggs royale apparently replaces the bacon with smoked salmon and commonly served with capers and red onions, either on the side or directly on top of the hollandaise sauce. Now, I didn’t have any of this but A claimed it was ‘cheesier’ and the hollandaise sauce creamy and wonderful. However, Bitton’s eggs benedict was definitely better.

I opted for the poached eggs with asparagus and truffle oil ($17) – perfectly poached eggs with soft asparagus drizzled with truffle oil on toasted and crunchy bread. It was excellent and exactly what I needed that day. The truffle oil was subtle, I think a little more would definitely have been tastier.

The café was buzzing, I love the communial tables outside the cafe. I believe it is one of the better cafes in Westfield. They have sandwiches and salads for takeaway should you wish to grab something and eat in the office. It’s very Mum and bub friendly. Not only that, but also very business friendly – we saw many meetings being held here over coffee. It was loud though becasuse of its location but still a gem!

I sure am going to miss our weekly mid-week brunch!

Is this owned by the same people who own LUXE bakery in Newtown…or is the name just the same? Food looks pretty yummy!
