Zozo Restaurant, Sydney

It certainly has been a while since I last visited Zozo which is located in World Square. It was a very cold windy Friday, we were going to see a movie and I suggested this place to ‘The Mother’. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait for long and were seated immediately outside under the heaters. It’s a two-storey Korean eatery, I love the funky decor upstairs and the cook-it-yourself barbecues downstairs. I wasn’t up for a barbeque so opted for a la carte.

To start, like any Korean restaurants, banchan – there weren’t a lot of varieties, kimchi, lotus roots, tofu and wilted spinach. The kimchi was wonderful and served cold, it was very spicy, sour and crispy with lots of red peppers, garlic and a little salt – YUM!

‘The Mother’ opted for his comfort meal – bimbimbap ($15), served it a hot pot it still sizzled when it arrived on our table.

He mixed it together, it was hot, spicy and full of flavour. I love the crunchy, gooey, crispy rice at the bottom – it was definitely perfect for a cold wintery night!

I opted for the chilli chicken ($25), which was served on sizzling hot plate. When the plate arrived, I thought Oh MY GOD! It was definitely big enough for two people! I noticed diners behind us eating something similar and it was shared between two! Yikes!

The chicken was seriously spicy, it was tender and succulent and topped with sesame seeds it was scrumptiously good. It was served with Korean rice cakes which were chewy and I loved the combination of sweet and spicy. I didn’t finish it obviously, so took the rest home and had it for leftovers.

I quite like the funky music and buzzing atmosphere. Service was fantastic and waiters friendly.

I’m no expert in Korean food but I certainly did enjoy my monstrous hot plate of Chili Chicken! Oh and in case you are wondering, we watched the Source Code and enjoyed it.

I always see this place bursting with people every time I go past! The mother is onto something good by having that tasty looking bibmibap as his comfort food!
