Porch and Parlour, North Bondi
Bondi is not a place i go very often for brunch. However, I was catching up with a dear friend, S, and he suggested Bondi. We had anticipated that the weather will be sunny and warm, however, it was neither. Slightly overcast, but still a nice morning for brunch. If you ask me where to go for brunch at Bondi, I would have no idea, so left the picking to S – he is my Bondi brunch consultant as he used to live in the area so knows the place quite well.
We went to Porch and Parlour which is on the hip Bondi strip on Brighton Boulevard. The breakfast menu is quite limited, eight different choices, mainly egg options but they also do serve bircher and toasted muesli, and wraps and sandwiches for lunch.
The ‘smashed eggs’ – free range eggs rolled in fresh herbs and sea salt on sourdough with avocado ($12) had my name on it, their signature dish I hear. Not what I expected, I had anticipated that the eggs were ‘smashed’ already. However, two deliciously perfectly cooked soft whole boiled eggs (de-shelled), served with Sonoma sour dough bread with avocado. Simple and light but incredibly tasty.
S on the other hand had the Porch big breakfast, free range eggs rolled in herbs and sea salt on toast with avocado, bacon, roast tomato, mushies, spinach and relish ($19). Generous serving, if I was feeling a little seedy, this would have been the ‘perfect’ hangover breakfast.
Service is friendly, the coffee brand they use is Sacred Grounds, made by the baristas and too good to have just one. Food is simple but yet delicious, they have pre-made sandwiches made with Sonoma bread, and pies and other delicious sweets.
Good little spot, even if its just for a takeaway lunch after a nice swim at the beach!

Porch & Parlour is in such a great spot and is a perfect place to chill and people watch. Really enjoyed the big breakfast (the eggs were perfect) and their banana almond drink was delicious too.
