Hokkaido Dairy Farm Milk Restaurant, Central, Hong Kong
Hokkaido dairy farm milk restaurant is very similar to the famous ‘Australian dairy company’ which I absolutely love! The menus are almost identical, there are now three different locations for Hokkaido dairy farm – Causeway Bay, Central and now Wanchai. I didn’t get a chance to go to Australian dairy company this time round, but managed to go to the Central branch a couple of times as it was close to work and hotel (rather dangerous to be honest!).
I came here three times during my stay in Hong Kong. It does get extremely busy at lunch times, but on a Saturday morning, it was quiet, only a few people inside and had no problems getting a table. The Hokkaido sandwich set had my name – sandwich with one filling and how can I not get the 3” eggs and served with either Hokkaido coffee or tea for HKD31 (less than AUD 5).
Two thick slice of white bread, and in between them 3’ scrambled eggs – oh my goodness! It was huge. The bread was soft and oh so buttery and the eggs were cooked perfectly! It was deliciously fluffy and absolutely wonderful! Unfortunately, I didn’t eat all the bread, it was just too much! But it was seriously tasty.
The second time, the Hokkaido breakfast set, eggs with toast, macaroni in soup with ham and Hokkaido coffee or tea (HKD 29). I have noticed that macaroni soup is quite a popular breakfast in Hong Kong, I am not a massive fan, I love macaroni and cheese, but don’t think I would eat it for breakfast. The macaroni in soup with ham was a little salty for my liking and a bit weird. It really wasn’t for me.
The scrambled eggs on toast – thankfully there was only one slice of bread, toasted, and smothered with butter. The eggs was creamy and not over cooked – the photo doesn’t do justice, it looks dry but it was actually quite runny!
My least favourite would have to be the corn beef with scrambled eggs on toast (HKD21). Again it was a relatively large serving, thick slices of bread and a generous amount of eggs. The corn beef wasn’t that great unfortunately, so took it out and ate without it which I enjoyed more. The eggs, however, were a little dry, unlike my first two visits. The corned beef and eggs are SO much better at the Australian dairy company – no comparison really.
I have to admit, I still do prefer Australian Dairy Company. The eggs, the bread, it’s just better in every way possible. Pity it was all the way in Jordan, will make the trek next time I’m in Hong Kong. In the meantime, I am quite happy with the 3’ scrambled eggs on toast – give me that any time of day.
I came when it was relatively quiet, so service I thought was pretty good and efficient. Didn’t have to wait too long, but I can imagine during peak hour it would get quite busy.
