Cafe Habitu, Taikoo Shing, Hong Kong

I have been totally and utterly spoilt by living in Surry Hills in Sydney. The many cafés, the coffees and the wonderful breakfast that I am now suffering withdrawals! Hong Kong has great food, but it lacks brunch places, especially cafés that serve good breakfast and coffee. How I long to wander down the streets of Surry Hills and eat in one of my favourite cafes, have a delicious bacon and eggs for breakfast sipping coffee whilst reading the paper. It does not happen here in Hong Kong! Unless I have been going to the wrong area and if so, please do tell me!

Café Habitu has many branches; there is even one near our place in City Plaza in Taikoo. I was having breakfast with my parents, and suggested this place. I was overcoming a virus and thought I should eat something bland and non-oily and that was exactly what I got!

Café Habitu serves all day breakfast, which I usually love. I ordered the scrambled eggs with mushrooms. The scrambled eggs were rather ordinary, a little dry and tasteless. The mushroom was good but it’s not hard to just fry mushrooms right? Doesn’t it look a little sad? I could have definitely made something better!

Dad’s breakfast was definitely better, he ordered the big breakfast which consisted of eggs, mushroom, bacon, smoked salmon, baked beans and two sausages. DEFINITELY better, although the scrambled eggs were still dry but everything else was surprisingly ok.

Service minimal, unless you order hot food, you pretty much have to pick it up yourself. The coffee I thought was so so – definitely have had better that’s for sure.

Overall, disappointing. I am missing my brunch on the weekend, not just the location but the food!

Oh, your breakfast does look very sad. I promise I won’t mention the great brunch I had at The Carrington on Sunday, not a peep.
