Ngau Kee, Central, Hong Kong
I have heard that about the beef brisket noodles from this place – it is a small / local café that is packed and the line outside is always long! I heard that it is run by a family, and it is reasonably cheap.
The lines at lunch is ridiculous long, and I just don’t have the patient to queue so got take away on the way back from the gym. I can’t tell you how many times I have been here, it’s like my ‘local’. Ngau Kee offers diners beef brisket, porridge, tendons and many more. I have to admit, the beef brisket is fantastic! Tender and tasty and I have to say, it is as good as Sister Wah in Tin Hau. The soup wasn’t too oily or sickly but the brisket … it was excellent.
I also tried the beef brisket with curry, which was served separately. The curry I really enjoyed, spicy and lots of flavour.
My favourite would have to be the tendons with curry and I can never go past this every time I visit.
Come early if you want to dine in to beat the lunch time rush. I know when I go at 12.45 – 1pm the queues are utterly insane!
I’m so glad that I can get my beef brisket fix in Central and not just at Tin Hau. No doubt I will be back and hopefully next time, I get to dine in and try their other dishes.
GA’s ratings: 8 / 10 (for the beef brisket!)
