Saboten Japanese Cutlet, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Saboten is one of the largest Tonkatsu chain restaurants in Japan. It is known for their deep fried breaded pork cutlets and diners can choose from the dark tenderloin for a lean tonkatsu or the lighter coloured loin for a firm traditional tonkatsu.

I have walked past this place in Causeway Bay so many times but have only recently tried it.

We started with the all you can eat cabbage, thinly cut and crispy.

I couldn’t go past the premium pork loin set. The fat to meat ratio was perfect, the pork was deliciously tender and juicy. The breaded coating was thin, and crunchy!

‘The Mother’ couldn’t go past the pork cutlet with egg. I was extremely glad that he ordered this dish – it meant I could have some! Ha! The coating was a little soggy due to the egg but it was still very tasty.

Overall I thought the food was good and can’t complain with the service. Our waitress saw how much Dragon loved the pickled cucumber and she kept giving us more! Will definitely come back to try their other menu items.
