Green Waffle Diner, Central, Hong Kong

It’s certainly has been a very very long time since I last went to Green Waffle Diner, 3 years to be exact. One of my colleagues at work had gone here for brunch and really enjoyed it and wanted to check out the lunch menu. The restaurant hasn’t changed, it is busier than what I remembered it to be and considering we didn’t have a reservation we were told that we only had the table for less than an hour – which was fine.

Green Waffles offers diners set menus for lunch. I really wanted to have the fried chicken or buffalo chicken wings but we were ‘highly recommended’ to take the set lunch as we only had an hour and the a la carte menu took a bit longer. It kind of annoyed me a little, as they gave us the a la carte menu – don’t offer it then!

Anyways, we settled on the a la carte menu, G couldn’t go past the country brunch skillet – bacon, green peppers, onions, poached eggs, potatoes and cheddar cheese. As the name suggested, this actually came in a skillet and it was tasty! This would be a perfect hangover breakfast cure!

C couldn’t go past the chicken penne with peppers, he wasn’t overly thrilled, and was a little disappointed. It was a little tasteless and the penne was a little on the hard side.

I couldn’t go past the southern chicken burger with fat chunky chips and corn. The chicken was a little thin and too crispy for my liking but the fat chunky chips were good.

With the set lunch, we all got waffles served with chocolate with a dollop of cream. It was good but I wouldn’t say it was fantastic! From memory I think my first visit was infinitely better. The fried chicken was definitely tasty and I am pretty sure the waffles tasted better the first time.

Not sure if I would come back during lunch time, but maybe for dessert or even for breakfast. Service was ok, it was busy though and people were lining to get in.
