Bowrington street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

I love catching up with my high school friend in Hong Kong, M, she always takes me to eat where the locals eat and never fails. It’s always incredibly delicious and extremely satisfying.

So on this cold evening, she took me to Causeway Bay and we ate on top of the wet market on Bowrington Street. It was rowdy, and it was so busy, but thankfully we were seated straight away. I left all the ordering to M, what would I know right?

Peanuts to start whilst you order and wait.

It’s always hard to eat Chinese food with two people, not much variety, but M certainly did well. We started with frogs legs, yes, you heard me right, frogs legs – braised with liver, mushrooms and vegetables – not for the faint heart but it was incredible! The frog legs were tender and meaty, worth all the effort, and the liver, mushrooms a wonderful compliment.

The salt and pepper whiting and calamari (combination) was excellent. Light batter, it was crunchy and the meat extremely tender. It was excellent.

It’s not a meal if you don’t have vegetables, so M ordered a side of Chinese vegetables.

Service is minimal, but food is frigging tasty and good value. The highlight for me would have to be the frog legs hot pot. I’m definitely going back here when I come back to Hong Kong with friends and family so we can order more.

The English link is here, address is however in Chinese, but its near the wet markets of Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.
